| Other Info | A Journey to the Heart: An Introduction to Bhakti Yoga with Keshavacharya Das Bhakti Yoga is the path of the heart, the yoga of love and devotion. In the ancient yogic text the Bhagavad Gita, it is said to be the perfection of Yoga. The root of the sanskrit word bhakti is bhaj, which can be translated as "loving service." The path of Bhakti teaches us how to lead a happy and fulfilled life by dedicating ourselves to serving others, a life where everything we do can be offered in loving devotion to the Divine. Keshavacharya Das has been immersed in the study and practice of Bhakti Yoga for 20 years. He will guide us on this journey to the heart, covering such topics as: the spiritual purpose behind Yoga; the journey of the soul; the Yoga of Kirtan, the power of chanting mantras (ancient sacred sound vibrations) and their effect on our consciousness; the sovereignty of love; the connection between the senses, the mind, the intelligence and the soul. We will open and close the afternoon with some kirtan, and time will be allowed for Q&A. "Keshavacharya Das' energy alone is gentle and kind. When he sings, you're lulled into your heart. His storytelling comes from a dedicated sadhana and love of life. Sound is God and his being is well-aware of this fact." ~ Andrea Boyd, Co-Director Jivamukti Yoga, Charleston |
